Let`s introduce

There has been the working pool „AG Genealogie" Magdeburg since 1969. It joined the association of culture and local history of Magdeburg in 1990.

The aim of the AG is to get people together or in touch who are interested in genealogy and who want to have contacts to each other and to other researchers.

Since a few years the AG has been collecting extensive documents about families and local history which are basis of the library and archive of the AG.
Remarkable is that there is a card index of names of Magdeburgers with about 50,000 names, especially from the 17th/ 18th centuries. That can help to make good or compensate the loss of documents from Magdeburg church communities (there were more than 20) done by the bombs in World War II.

The members of the AG are doing their research just as a hobby without normally carrying out research orders, but they will help.

In case of questions you must tell us all known dates of the wanted person ( place of birth, marriage and death, and if possible also period of time).

We would like to have the postage expenses refunded in case of a written request.

The estates in the archive have the results of researches done by former members of the AG in Saxony-Anhalt.
